Sculpture & Carving

This is a wood carving of a face created as part of a project on masks for an evening art class. The mask was carved from a piece of oak and i had to use a chisel and a hammer to shape the main features of the face as the wood was so hard. Finer detail and finishing was created by scrapping the wood away with the chisel and also using sand paper to smooth areas.

GREEN SCREEN

We had a green screening workshop and worked with some students to create a science project. We recorded students performing their research in front of the green screen and then we added images to the green screen using the adobe program that matched the aspects of the students topics .

We were then able to try the technique ourselves and we choose to read a story. We set up the equipment and took turns to read sections of the story while filming in front of the green screen. We then added images from the story book at appropriate sections of the story .

Unfortunately we were limited in time and we were not able to complete all of the filming and editing so it is a basic version of the finished product. Given more time we would have edited the film properly and cut our all of our talking inbetween takes and spent more time getting the lighting and shooting perfect.

Still life paintings

These are still life paintings. The pictures were made using acrylic paints and brushes and layering of the colours over a period of time to help give the subject more depth and texture.

Painting & Printing

These are some paintings that I made during an art evening class. These have been created using acrylics and brushes and some screen printing either over the top of the painting or as part of the background layer of the paintings.  I have also used oil pastels over the top of the painting to add a different texture. Their is a mixture of techniques in the paintings from colour washing, block painting, fine detail brush work and printing to experiment with different tools, materials, colours and effects.
